Phineas Parkhurst Quimby was an American clockmaker, mentalist and mesmerist. His work is widely recognized as foundational to the New Thought spiritual movement. He focused on metaphysics and psychology to underscore his belief that the body was simply a vessel for the five senses and the faculties of the human mind. (Feb1802–Jan 1866)

I’m Phineas, and I greet you. Within all life there is death. Therefore, within all death, there is life. They cannot be separated from each other. They are but the same portal or doorway. They are not separate doors or paths. There is only one. And that one path is not separate from anything at all. You cannot see this path as one, because it is all around you. That which surrounds you cannot be differentiated by any boundary or any line. Therefore, your existence itself is the path. And if you choose to see it as spiritual as you define the word ‘spiritual’, then it shall be. And that is because what you decide shall be, shall be.
