My beloved horse, Peace, my companion for so many years, is no longer with me, and I haven’t been able to find peace nor relieve the guilt I feel since I was forced to give him up fifteen years ago. I had been his caregiver since he was a foal. He was really only bonded to me. I could not bear to stay in touch with the people that took him in. I felt as if I was forced to give up my only child. It feels as if it happened only yesterday, and the tears just keep flowing.
